4 people facie multiple charges related to credit card fraud

If you are accused of credit card fraud in Connecticut, you could find yourself facing serious legal consequences. Four people were arrested recently in Westport, Connecticut, for using fraudulent credit cards. They're all now facing multiple charges.

The four were at a store called Castle Wine & Spirits on the evening of May 27 when employees at the store became suspicious that they were trying to use fraudulent credit cards to make their purchases. When store personnel confronted them, the four reportedly fled the store in a car with Maryland license plates. The Westport Police were notified. They spotted the vehicle and apprehended the four soon after. Police say that the defendants had several fraudulent cards as well as bottles of alcohol when they were arrested.

All of the defendants, who are in their 20s and 30s, are facing larceny and related charges. The charges vary somewhat among the four, as do their bonds. Two are from New York (Brooklyn and Queens) and two are from Louisiana. The charges they're facing include:

-- Larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny in the 6th degree-- Unlawful reproduction or completion of a credit card (22 counts for all four people)-- Forgery-- Identity theft-- Illegal use of a credit card-- Criminal impersonation

While some people may consider credit card fraud a victimless crime, the justice system sees it differently. The penalties can be substantial. If you or a loved one are facing criminal charges related to credit card fraud, it's essential to seek the guidance of an experienced Connecticut criminal defense attorney.
