If you're involved with selling, distributing or in any way providing illegal drugs, you may find yourself not only facing drug charges, but dealing with the legal ramifications of harm or death caused by those drugs. A 21-year-old Connecticut man is facing multiple charges after a woman reportedly nearly died on July 2 after taking a heroin/fentanyl mix that he allegedly sold her.

Police who found the woman unconscious were able to revive her only after administering multiple doses of the drug Narcan -- also known as naloxone. The drug acts as an antidote to opioid overdoses.

Police say that the woman bought the drugs from the man, who lives in Monroe, at his home. It was not reported where she was when police responded to a call for assistance for a possible drug overdose or if police know who made the call.

The young man has been charged with first-degree assault, reckless endangerment and the illegal manufacture, sale and distribution of drugs.

The arrest after the woman's reported overdose was the second drug-related arrest for the young man within one week. On July 1, police say they found him acting strangely and hiding in the bushes. He reportedly told officers that he had been threatened by a motorist. They say that he was in possession of heroin/fentanyl as well as a BB gun when they discovered him after responding to a multiple calls regarding a suspicious person on the road in the early hours of the morning.

With the opioid epidemic facing Connecticut and many other states and the increasingly-fatal combinations of drugs that are available, law enforcement agencies and prosecutors have stepped up their efforts to get these drugs out of people's hands by going after those involved at all levels of drug sale, distribution and trafficking. If you or a loved one is facing drug-related charges, it's essential to seek experienced legal guidance immediately.
